At Spirit and Word International School, we use the ACE curriculum, an international curriculum that is individualized. The curriculum starts from kindergarten, where children are admitted at the age of four, and they go through grade one after one year of kindergarten.
The school runs from kindergarten to grade 12, with grades seven to nine considered as “O” level, and grades 10 upwards considered as high school or HSC. The primary curriculum includes subjects like math, English, SST (Social Studies), science, word building (vocabulary), literature, and creative writing.
Assessments are done through tests that come with the booklets, and each test is marked by the teacher/supervisor. The passing mark is usually 80, but for some subjects like word building, it is 90. If a child scores below the passing mark, they may need to redo the booklet.
Children are handled as individuals. They sit in their personal space, which is more like an office, and work on a particular subject. When they are stuck or don’t understand their work, they are handled individually by sitting down with a supervisor and going over the material they haven’t understood.
This way, they are able to grasp any concept that may be difficult for them as they study. Additionally, they teach themselves by reading through the material and answering questions. However, when they are stuck somewhere, we come in and go over the work with them.
At Spirit & Word International School, our parents, teachers, and students share real stories of growth and joy — reflecting “The Quick, The Sharp and The Clever.”
Spirit and Word International School offers independent, non-denominational ACE education in a nurturing Christian environment, registered under the Ministry of Education.
